Dental Crown and Bridge

Over time, your teeth can get damaged. This can happen for various reasons, like tooth decay, injuries, or use over time. Your teeth can lose their shape or size. Dental crowns are tooth-shaped “caps” that can be placed over your tooth. Think of it like a snug hat for your tooth. The crown restores the tooth’s shape, size, strength, and appearance.

The dental crown is cemented into place on your tooth and covers its visible portion.

How long do dental crowns last?

Professionally-fitted dental crowns usually have about five to 15 years of longevity on average. Crowns are made of resilient materials, like porcelain or metal alloys, which allows them to stand up to a lot of potential wear and damage.

What does a bridge look like for your teeth?

A dental bridge looks like a row of teeth; they just happen to be attached in one piece. It is typically made of porcelain because it is strong and resembles natural tooth enamel. Some bridges are made of porcelain fused with metal to increase their strength, especially for longer bridges.
