Sedation Dentistry

Nitrous Sedation

Your pain and anxiety are kept under control as you remain in a safe and light level of sedation throughout your dental procedure.

Sedation dentistry uses medication to help patients relax during dental procedures. It’s sometimes referred to as “sleep dentistry,” although that’s not entirely accurate. Patients are usually awake.

Do you feel pain with sedation dentistry?

Extremely relaxed. Comfortable during any procedure, even if you have sensitive teeth or gums. Virtually feel no pain.

Is sedation dentistry the same as anesthesia?

Despite these similarities, sedation and anesthesia are not the same. Under sedation, you will feel relaxed and may fall into a light sleep. Often, refers to this as conscious sedation because you are awake, though in a state of depressed alertness.

How long does dental sedation last?

Two to eight hours Essentially, oral sedation will suppress the gag reflex, suppress pain responses, reduce anxiety, and more. However, these dental sedation methods usually last anywhere from two to eight hours after the procedure. The type of drug you take will determine how long it will take the sedation to wear off.
